Who we are:
Jericho Businessmen Club is a non partisan organization made up of Ibadan indigenes with a collective focus on the economic and cultural development of Ibadanland. We currently have four focus areas as vehicles in giving back to our people. These are in the areas of:
Our mission derives through the following guiding objectives:
- Cultivation of business and social networking amongst members
- Providing support and inputs into the economic programs of the various tiers of government as they may affect Ibadanland.
- Enriching the business face of Ibadanland and protecting her socio-cultural relevance in the world.
- Promoting the relevance of our generation in the political direction of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
Members / Membership:
Membership of the Club is open to male indigenes of Ibadan land in the age bracket of 30 – 52 years at the time of application.
An intending member must be a holder of a minimum of first degree from a recognized University or a Higher National Diploma from a recognized Polytechnic. Must be gainfully engaged in a paid employment or self employment.
Classes of membership:
- Pioneer Members
Open to members who attended at least one of the first two inaugural meetings of the Club held on December 18, 2000 and January 11, 2001 or the first 30 members to pay the year 2001 subscription on or before March 2001.
2. Distant Members
Open to members who by virtue of work or domicile live over 200 km radius outside Lagos State, and Nigeria, provided their membership commenced in Nigeria.
- Honorary Members
Shall be by invitation and such person need not meet the requirements of being an ordinary member, but, must have impacted positively on the club, or Ibadan land, or such person must have fully identified himself with the club’s objectives over time.
- Veteran Members
(Veteran Member status shall be conferred on any financial member who has attained the age of 65 years and has been a member of the club for an unbroken 20 year period.
Procedure for Enrolment of Members
An intending member applicant must attend three consecutive meetings of the club to fully decide if he wants to join the club. Thereafter, he shall pass through the enrolment process of submitting the application form supported by an application fee. An applicant must be sponsored by two existing members of good financial standing with the Club.
The applicant shall be screened by the Membership Committee along specified criteria. Further information / clarification may be sought from the sponsors and the applicant will be invited for interview by the committee. Candidate for admission must be physically present with his sponsors on the date of admission as would be specified in the offer of acceptance to join the club.
